The #100-style expanding collet will handle a range from 1/8" to 1/2" (3.175 to 12.7mm) and is machined to size by the customer. It is a unique design with a master expander as part of the arbor assembly. This expanding collet comes in two styles: #100S with a .300" (7.6mm) long pilot and #100L with a .718" (18.2mm) long pilot. The recommended gripping length is a 1:1 ratio with the bore. For example: a 1/8" (3.175mm) bore equals a gripping length of 1/8" (3.175mm). The Forkardt Hardinge design requires only a standard hex wrench to remove the collets-no special wrenches or special tools are needed.
